Facilities

Methodist International House, Manchester is based around a historical Victorian mansion. Since being established as a Hall of Residence blocks and related facilities have been added to the older buildings. The original Hirstwood House is filled with many antique features. This is where some of the common areas and the office are situated. It should be noted that all common areas are accessible to residents round the clock. We have two lounges where residents can study, socialize, play games or
just watch TV. The other places which are equally popular among
residents are the dining room and, on sunny days, the courtyard /BBQ area. In the games area residents can play pool and table tennis (up to midnight). Next to the dining room are 5 kitchens. This is the place where ‘serious cooking’ is the main feature!

As we have residents from all over the world one can taste many exotic dishes as they are being prepared. In
the kitchens each resident has a designated locker. Snacks or breakfast can be prepared in one of the pantries /kitchenettes. The pantries are located on each of the corridors and are
adjacent to the study /bedrooms. Study /bedrooms are a standard
size and are all equipped with a single bed, desk, wardrobe and a washing basin. All rooms have a fast 10 Mbps broadband connection (without maximum downloading limits) provided by Hornet (included in existing fees!). Toilets and showers are located on each corridor. Recently, more than half of the showers have been refurbished. There is one more place that should be mentioned -and this is the computer room. This comes equipped with a printer (included in the price!). This serves us well as yet another place where residents can study in peace and quiet. Wardens and Mentors are on call 24/7 for pastoral support or general advice.
