Q 1. Is my room cleaned?
A. Yes they are cleaned every week on the same day. We change half the bed linen each week. We also clean the kitchens daily and other public rooms every day apart from the weekends.

Q 2. What size are the study bedrooms?
A. It is on average 14’ x 9’ ( 4.26m x 2.73m)

Q 3. How many students are there and where do they come from.
A. We have 61 rooms and on average they come from over 25 different countries which could be from all over the world.

Q 4. What do the fees cover?
A. Your fees cover your rent for a room, all services including heating, lighting & cooking facilities and the use of a computer and telephone (incoming calls only) as well as shared facilities.

Q 5. You say we can have incoming calls to our room what if I want to make outgoing telephone calls?
A. We require £50 in advance to cover your initial phone charges. We will send out a statement at least each month with details of your outgoing paid calls. If your balance gets below £10 we expect you to top up your account. If you go into debt we may have to stop outgoing calls from your phone.

Q 6. What software is there on the computers?
A. In the computers that are available for each room you will have Windows 95 & Microsoft Word 97 installed.

Q 7. Are there other computers with other programmes that I can use?
A. We do have a small computer room which has 2 computers connected to a laser printer for current residents to use. The computers have Windows XP & Microsoft Office suite 2003 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Q 8. What other facilities are there in the house?
A. From the Office phone you can obtain cards & we also sell a small amount of postage stamps. There is also a small photocopier, fax machine, large stapler, large whole punch, scanner and laminator. There is a small charge for using the photocopier, fax machine & laminator.

Q 9. Do you have any sporting facilities?
A. We have a table tennis table, a pool table in the Dining Room.

Q 10. Can we have a TV in our room or is there a TV lounge?
A. We do not encourage people to have TV's in their rooms because it is unsociable and you are required to purchase a TV licence which at the present time costs £135.50 for a coloured set. We have lounges which have a TV in each room.

Q 11. What washing facilities do you have?
A. There is a washing machine which costs £2 a load and a dryer which is free of charge.

Q 12. It says that you only take Postgraduates; do you ever take Undergraduates?
A. We do occasionally take undergraduates on the basis that the house is dominantly for postgraduates who expect a quiet house in order to study.

Q 13. It says that you take overseas postgraduates; do you take British postgraduates?
A. We are happy to take a few British postgraduates.

Q 14. As a Methodist Hall do you only take Methodists or Christians?
A. The hall was set up to take people of all faiths or none.

Q 15. As the hall is part of the Methodist Church do you expect people not to drink?
A. There are no restrictions on drinking alcohol however we do ask residents to respect each others faith & background.

Q 16. What happens if I do not have any cooking utensils?
A. We can provide a set of kitchen utensils for a nominal £30. This includes, frying pan, saucepan & lid, large plate, small plate, glass, mug, knife, fork, spoon, spatula & tea towel.

Q 17. Can you take people who are not students?
A. Because we are a hall of residence we only take students.

Q 18. Is there a Residents Association?
A. There is an opportunity to elect a residents Association in October each year.

Q 19. What social activities are organised each year?
A. There is a Welcome party, Christmas party and other activities throughout the year including a number of BBQ's in the summer.
