Applicants
should be in sympathy with the House's aim of providing a home where
students from many countries can live harmoniously together. They
must be prepared to co-operate with the Warden and staff to ensure
the smooth running of the house and be considerate towards fellow
students who may be of very different backgrounds and cultures.
Drinking: There
is no ban on alcoholic drinks at Methodist International House,
Manchester but residents are asked to be particular sensitive
to
other residents in this matter.
Residence Agreement:
The Residence Agreement signed by all residents is a commitment
to stay in the House for an academic year of at least 38 continuous
weeks, from late September to early June. Accommodation is usually
also available for most of the summer. Applicants should not
seek
a place if they consider their course is for less than 38 weeks,
or because they do not intend to stay in this accommodation for
the whole period. The legal consequences of signing the Agreement
bind the resident to pay a rental for the whole of the 38 weeks.
This means that if you leave before the 38 weeks you will be
liable
for the fees for the full period, or until such time as we are able
to re-let the room. Also an administration fee
will be charged if you break your contract.
Married couples:
We regret that no accommodation suitable for married couples is
available so it is important that applicants who intend to be joined
by their wives, husbands or families at a later date are quite sure
that they will be able to commit themselves to a minimum stay of
38 weeks before accepting any offer of a place.
THERE
IS A NO-SMOKING POLICY IN THE HOUSE.
